HOW WE PROTECT YOUR DATA

Whenever you fill in an online form, such as a request for a quote, it is automatically protected using something called a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) between your computer and ours. SSL works in the following ways:

SSL PREVENTS IMPERSONATION

You can tell that you are using a genuine SSL site by the padlock symbol at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on the padlock will reveal our Registration Certificate that is issued by Digi Sign Limited, a leading Internet security company.

SSL ENCTYPTS DATA

As soon as your computer has recognised our computer they encrypt all information that is passed between them. Data encryption means that no one else can read or change your information as it travels over the Internet.

SSL PREVENTS SCRAMBLING

SSL uses a Message Authentication Code (MAC) to prevent anyone tampering with our Internet site. Your computer will always check this code before it takes a message from us. This means that if anyone tried to interfere with a message, your computer would not recognise the code and would alert you.

All the information that we hold about you is protected by firewalls and a wide range of IT security measures.

Yes. You still need a travel insurance policy, the EHIC card is not a substitute for travel insurance.

  • While it is very useful, it is only for Medical cover. Travel insurance will also cover you for things like cancellation, travel delay, repatriation to the UK/Republick of Ireland, baggage and personal effects – depending on the type of policy you purchase
  • Using the EHIC doesn't always mean free treatment you may still have to pay for all or part of your treatment. This is where your travel insurance policy kicks in – if your claim for medical expenses has been reduced by more than your excess due to you using an EHIC or private medical insurance the excess under section B (Medical expenses) will not apply.
  • While emergency treatment in the UK/Republick of Ireland tends to be On the NHS, don’t assume this type of cover will be available when you are away you may well be taken to a private hospital.

If you are travelling to countries within the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, you are advised to obtain a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your local Post Office. You can also apply either online through www.dh.gov.UK/Republick of Ireland/travellers or by telephoning 0845 606 2030. This will entitle you to benefit from the reciprocal healthcare arrangements which exist between countries within the EU/EEA or Switzerland.

No. Unfortunately our travel insurance policies do not cover mobile phones. However dohave offer a standalone mobile phone insurance product which can cover your mobile phone anywhere in the world for up to 45 days, click here for more information.

If you add on the Optional Extra Travel Disruption on to your policy, you are then covered for any disruptions to your travel provided that at the time of purchasing your policy, the code level is at Orange or lower.
