Monthly Payments – Students & Tenants Contents Update

Customers who currently have a Student or Tenant Possessions Insurance policy with us, that is currently paid for via Monthly Instalments, will currently be receiving an email similar to the one shown below.

Please do not be alarmed if you receive this email. Basically, due to SCA (Strong Customer Authentication) procedures brought in by the banking community on the 14/03/2022 the banks now require more information than we originally took when setting up your policy.

As a result, we will need to retake your card details to verify that they are correct, we will also now need to take the address the card is registered to, as this is now part of our verification process, and you may then but not always have to verify this update via your banking app or via a passcode sent to the phone your bank has on file for you.

Please note that these changes have been brought in to make your account more secure and reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions.

Sample Email:

Subject: Monthly Payment—<Policy Number>.

Dear <First Name>.

Policy Number: <Policy Number>.

Monthly Premium: <£*.**>.

According to our records the last monthly instalment was taken on DD/MM/YYYY

We now need to update the card details on your policy, due to recent banking security updates affecting your monthly instalment payments.

Due to the implementation of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA). We are required to update the information we use to continue to take your monthly payment.

The information that we will need:

  • Card Holders Name
  • Card Number
  • Expiry Date
  • CV2 Number (normally the 3-digit number on your signature strip)
  • Address where your is card is registered

Once we have updated these details, you may also be asked to verify a transaction (which will be set at £1.01 and show as being from UK & Ireland Insurance Services (Online) Limited – our parent company; this transaction will be immediately refunded but is needed to verify with your card issuer that the transaction is legitimate).

At this point you may be asked for a passcode to verify the payment, which would be sent to your mobile phone/landline or authenticate your payment in another way such as via your banking app.

As your premium is now overdue, we require you to contact us within 14 days of receiving this email to avoid cover being cancelled.
