Pub insurance is designed to protect pub owners against the possibility of financial losses. Our specialist pub insurance will provide a business owner with protection from a range of unexpected incidents which may occur, giving the landlord peace of mind.

  • Public liability: Your pub is hopefully full of happy customers, but each person that is on your premises represents an insurance risk as they may sustain an injury such as a trip or fall, whether that is caused by a raised floor board or a slip on some food or spilled drink. This is where the public liability element of the cover would kick in: Public Liability Insurance covers your legal liability to pay damages to members of the public for death, bodily injury or damage to their property, which occurs as a result of business activities. Public liability insurance cover can also be extended to include claims arising out of defective products or design, often referred to as product liability insurance
  • Stock: Your pub has a haven of goods that is attractive to criminals with goods that can be traded from bottles of beer, spirits, wine, snacks (crisps & nuts etc.), food in the kitchen to cigarettes. Remember to calculate your stock on the basis of replacing all your stock as new.
  • Contents: You need to consider the cost of replacing all your contents if heaven forbid your pub suffered a fire how would you replace furniture, carpets, lighting, computers, till, fridges, freezers, payment machines, quiz and gambling machines?
  • Money: Pubs by their very nature handle a lot of cash each day, although card payments are increasing all the time you will still need to make sure that you have enough cover for the cash that you hold. You should also ensue that it covers the money is covered in transit to and from the pub to your bank, while it is kept in any night safe and if the pub / club is left unoccupied. If your pub has an ATM machine make sure that he insurance covers you for the maximum amount that the machine can hold at any one time.
  • Employers liability: As you will be employing staff you will need to have employer’s liability cover. Employers’ liability insurance protects you against the cost of damages and legal fees for employees who are injured at work.
  • Employee theft cover: You can also look to add on employer’s dishonesty insurance to your pub insurance policy it will protect your business against losses caused by theft, fraud or dishonesty from your employees.
  • Loss of License cover: You may also require cover for loss of license; this will help protect your business if you have forfeiture your license for the sale of alcohol due to licensing regulations or refusal to renew your licence by the licensing authority due to causes beyond your pubs control. Please note that your licence being revoked due to serving underage drinkers would not be covered, as this would be deemed as being under the pubs control.
  • Buildings cover: If you own the building your pub/bar is located in then your will need cover the cost of rebuilding your licenced premises if it was destroyed.
